THERE'S A FLYDRAGON IN DRIVEL LAND

>> Sunday, June 14, 2009

Way back in April I announced a contest called Win a Link and a Post here on DDD. I must have been looking at my reader stats or lack thereof and was trying to devise ways to get people to come here and read this crap. Bribery and narcissism. Works every time.

The contest was to see who could come closest to guessing the correct date that my "Hey, Baby!" lilies would bloom. The prize was the winner would have a link to their blog prominently displayed on my sidebar for one month. I also promised to devote a post to the winner. That's what happens when there's no gin in the house.

The winner is some chick in Ohio with dyslexia named Flydragon. She writes a blog titled A Little of This, A Little of That, and just happens to be a gardening nut. Figures, huh? I suggested she e-mail me so I could get to know her a little bit and write a well-informed post about her and her blog. Instead she showed her class and proper upbringing by leaving a comment on my blog stating no way in Hell would she e-mail some raving lunatic in Maine even if the prize was a million dollars. Pfffft. Wuss.

Flydragon's blog is about flowers, birds, her family and her love of shoveling her car out of the snow. I've got to hand it to her though, she is quite the photographer. She always includes some neat photos in her posts, like this one:

And this:

Her blog is wildly popular with 35 followers hanging on her every word. Her posts average between 20-30 comments. I don't get half that amount, but I have a small family. She has daughters named FD2 and FD4. Poor things.

Please check out A Little of This, A Little of That and congratulate her on her win here in Drivel Land, 'cause she doesn't know how lucky she is.

My email drivel feed has never failed me! You have at least two readers from here in Texas: me and CAT.

I guess I'll have to check out the flydragon.

Texas here too. Mean things make me happy, so I really enjoyed this post.

LL June 15, 2009 12:23 AM

And you wrote it with such love too...

Hey, at least you treated me right in your last post. It all evens out.....

That's it?? That's the worst you could come up with? After reading your blog for months, I was expecting waaaaaay worse. Hell, this one makes me proud. And you picked some of my best pics to boot.
Million bucks? Hey, for 5 bucks I would have sent an e-mail loaded with details of my life no one has ever known or wanted to know.

Ohio??? Flydragons??? Pictures of, whatever those weeds were and, lets see, a Peace silver dollar and a buffalo nickel... throw in a donkey and some whipped cream and we've got the start of a really strange sex dream or my med mix has hit the super la-la stage!!! At least you know you're appreciated here in the OBX Deb... surf, sand, sun and... wait! Was that John Lennon that just walked by????

Pfft, I already gave her congratypoo's here, but I'll go and check her out simply because you asked so nicely :D

RG: I can always depend on you and CAT! Thank you! I suppose this means I have to reconsider my lack of fondness for felines?

CAA: Mean things in deed! Doesn't it just make you all warm and fuzzy inside?

LL: Yes, because I love ME.

Wirecutter: You scare me too much to not treat you right.

Flydragon: Damn. Here I was fearful you couldn't take the wrath of drivel so I went easy. Your $5 is on its way.

TJ: Donkeys and sex should never ever be mentioned in the same sentence. You've been hanging out too long on that Gotta Be California dude's blog.

Skye: Oooo! I have power over my readers! Think of the things I could do!

Flydragon seems to have some issues. But she does hit the nail on the head when she says that for $5, she would send an "e-mail loaded with details of my life no one has ever known or wanted to know."

Even loved ones don't care about the details of flydragon's life? Shocking. As for me, I wouldn't give a Buffalo nickel to know one thing. Deb, you are kind to honor your end of the bargain. But I won't be visiting that blog for any reason.

Love the photo of the hanging frog!

Took me an hour to figure out why 'flydragon' was dyslexic.

I'm diputs.

Deb June 16, 2009 7:05 PM

Kathcom: Flydragon still owes me a hummingbird feeder so there is no way I am sending her any sort of Buffalo bill or coin. The photo of the hanging frog is her banner. If she visits here she's got some good quality, right? RIGHT???

Mooooog35: Took me an hour to figure out how many O's are in your name.

ettarose June 17, 2009 7:15 PM

Deb, you know how much I adore you right? So I am just going to say I should have won. I would have accepted with the grace befitting a nice Bi#$@ like me. I will not even cuss here even though that was pretty low for a dyslexic ass.

Deb June 17, 2009 7:36 PM

Etta: Yes, I know you love ME. I also know you would have exhibited nothing but grace and suck-upitude. However, we must be fair and honor flydragon and her dyslexic ways. Poor thing.

I see more and more bloggers doing contests. Like you said - it's fun and they work every time. Everyone seems to be getting into them. Congrats to your winner. I'm going to check out their blog next.

Deb June 19, 2009 6:11 PM

The CC: I don't know if I'd call this fun. PITA, yes. You are right, everyone seems to be getting into them 'cause they're all thinking "what's in it for me? I just like driveling. It's simple. Like me.
